An extensive 60-day journey circling the Australian Coast has been cancelled days after the death of an senior female passenger who was stranded by the ship on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the group for a pause. The vessel departed without her and came back after some time after the personnel became aware the passenger was not present.

A major rescue mission found her remains the subsequent day.

Authorities are examining the tragedy, together with law enforcement and the official investigator.

The CEO of the cruise operator announced that travelers and crew on the vessel were notified that the continuation of the journey had been called off due to the "unfortunate death and previous technical problems".

Via official communication, he added that passengers would be issued a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to organize the travel back of the passengers via chartered flights".

Officials also issued an updated communication, and said they had "issued a notice to the Captain" banning any additional guests from boarding the ship.

The representative said that they would inspect the vessel in the port city upon its return.

Timeline of Occurrences

The ship initially left Cairns on 24 October, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the time of the elderly woman's death. The tropical location was the first stop on the itinerary.

Passengers on board - who usually pay substantial amounts of dollars to join the cruise - were taken there for a day trip with the choice of walking or snorkelling.

Relatives Reaction

The child of the victim said that her loved ones was "stunned and grieved that the ship left the location after an organised excursion without my parent".

Through her comments, she portrayed her parent as an "active octogenarian" who was a member of a bushwalking club.

"According to scant facts we have been provided, it appears that there was a lapse of care and basic judgment," she mentioned.

She continued that she wished the inquiry would be able to determine what "the company should have performed that might have protected Mum's existence".

"According to reports from the authorities that it was a very hot afternoon, and mother fell ill on the hill climb," she explained.

"They requested her to go back, without accompaniment. Then the boat departed, seemingly without doing a passenger count.

"At some stage in that sequence, or not long after, mum died, alone."

Organization Reaction

Through an announcement, the CEO confirmed that the organization was "collaborating extensively with investigators to support their examination".

He mentioned that the company was "deeply sorry that this has happened" and had extended its full support to the family.

Cruise Industry Procedures

The ship caters for up to a hundred twenty guests with 46 crew, according to corporate details. It was purpose-built to enter isolated locations of the nation's coast and is equipped with "tenders" - minor craft used to transport passengers on day excursions.

Events like this are rare, and liners have systems to track which travelers are boarding or leaving, according to maritime specialists.

Cruise lines take these processes with great importance and have "advanced technology in place to prevent such occurrences from occurring," the authority continued.
