Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
