Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that defies conventional expectations, the game developer has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Revealed
According to the official announcement, "A mysterious encounter draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of forbidden rituals and monstrous metamorphoses resonate through the shadows." The storyline features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine group.
The mission centers on "bizarre trials and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Transformations
The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview concludes with a striking moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an special katana together with numerous items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's latest complimentary story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Crossovers
This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
